Once the Aalto ¿granular? synth comes in around half the song, everything takes a new lovely direction. And the overall atmospehere/air inbetween the lute recordings add a lot of warmth (is the enviroment or post processing ?)

Man, this is so good. I love hearing German sung, and you have a splendid voice. Do you live in Germany? Austria? Elsewhere that is German-speaking? Or do you just speak it very well as a second language?

No I love what you did with the track, and I'm happy you enjoyed this one! It's so nice to have people listen to your music (and even do freakin' awesome remixing) who know what they're talking about and care a lot about music!

The pad at around halftime is partly Samplr and partly Aalto. There are a lot of other environmental noises that are in there because I don't have a decent microphone :-) But I'm glad it doesn't sound OK.

Thank you! I'm German, from Hamburg, but moved to the US in 2000 because I met my wife there. German gets a lot of bad rep as a language here, but I'm pretty much 50/50 in terms of my songs and thinking, so a lot comes out in German. Glad you liked it!

Do you recommend Aalto? For now I've got Reaktor, along with PureData and Max4Live, but sometimes that degree of freedom is too overwhelming... Just want to patch some cables, not build a entire engine

I do recommend Aalto. Pretty much every time I sit down and noodle with it, I end up with a useful patch - something musical. It's limited for sure, but I find that helpful, like you mentioned. They have a nice free version to try out. If you like that, keep an eye out on their web site - they usually do a 50% off sale at least once a year!

Not to digress too much but now that I'm thinking about it, it's a beautiful example of "Almost but not quite the same as tea" if you get my reference. One of my first EPs here in the US was a couple of German songs that I titled, "Translate This", knowing that you really couldn't. Well, I have a lot of thoughts on the issue but maybe I should stick to the task at hand here...

You're very welcome! It's funny I had a conversation about German poetry with a jazz piano guy just two days ago. I do think there is a qualitative difference between different languages for poetry (obviously, just as there are between different musical instruments for the same musical piece). I don't mean one is better than the other, but it's a different way of approaching things.

In a nutshell - and because I don't get to talk about it all that often -, I love how easily you can re-contextualize root words in German because the language is dong that all the time for everyday words anyway. It's so modular (you know, "glove" is "handshoe") so it encourages that, whereas in English poetry, there are a lot more "exotic" words that are beautiful but they don't resonate with native speakers as much (I would think) because they're not used that much in daily life.

There is actually not much of that in these specific lyrics. Anyway. I'll shut up now :-)

I'd love it if you used the words at some point. I'd love to hear that.
